A Korean lash lift typically lasts between 6 and 8 weeks, depending on your natural lash cycle.
Because lash lifts work on your natural lashes, the results gradually fade as your lashes shed and new lashes grow in.
Some clients notice their lash lift lasting closer to 8 weeks, while others may find it fades sooner. This variation is completely normal and is influenced by several factors including hormones, skin type and lifestyle.
I see this regularly in my Fulham studio with clients travelling in from Chelsea, Parsons Green, Putney and across South West London: two clients can leave with the same beautiful lift and have noticeably different longevity. Understanding why is the first step to making your own results last as long as possible.
How the Lash Growth Cycle Works
Your lashes naturally grow and shed in cycles. Each lash goes through three stages:
- Anagen phase – the active growth stage
- Catagen phase – the transition stage
- Telogen phase – the resting and shedding stage
A lash lift reshapes the lashes that are currently in the growth cycle. As those lashes fall out naturally and new lashes grow in, the lifted effect gradually softens.
This is why most lash lifts last around 6–8 weeks.
Why Some Lash Lifts Fade Faster
Several factors can influence how long a lash lift lasts. Understanding these factors helps explain why two people may have very different results.
Hormones
Hormones can have a surprisingly strong effect on lash lift results. Hormonal changes can alter the structure and growth cycle of the lashes, which may affect how well the lashes hold their new shape.
Hormonal fluctuations can occur during pregnancy, breastfeeding, hormonal contraception and menopause. Some clients find their lashes become more resistant to lifting during certain hormonal changes.
Time of the Month
The stage of the menstrual cycle can also influence lash lift results. During certain phases of the cycle, hormones can slightly change the texture and strength of the lash hair, which may make lashes more or less responsive to treatment.
For some clients, lashes lift more easily at certain points in the month.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy is another time when lash lift results may vary. The hormonal changes during pregnancy can affect lash growth, lash texture and lash strength.
Some clients notice their lash lifts lasting longer, while others find their lashes are more resistant to lifting during pregnancy.
Skin Type
Your skin type also plays a role. Clients with oilier skin may notice lash lifts fading slightly faster. Natural oils from the skin can gradually affect how well the lashes hold their lifted shape.
This doesn't mean the treatment is ineffective, it simply means maintenance appointments may be needed slightly sooner.
Time of Year
Seasonal changes can also affect lashes. In warmer months, increased heat, humidity and sweat can cause the lashes to relax slightly faster.
Lifestyle habits such as frequent swimming, saunas or steam rooms can also influence longevity.
Aftercare
Aftercare is one of the biggest factors in how long a lash lift lasts. Unlike traditional lash lifts that often require avoiding water for 24 to 48 hours, advanced Korean cysteamine formulas stabilise much faster.
Most clients only need to avoid water, steam and excessive heat for around 4 to 6 hours after treatment. For the full breakdown, see my full lash lift aftercare guide.
To help maintain the results, it is recommended to:
- •Avoid water, steam and excessive heat for the first 4 to 6 hours
- •Avoid steam, saunas and excessive heat for the first 24 hours
- •Avoid rubbing the eyes
- •Use a nourishing lash serum if recommended
Proper aftercare helps the lashes maintain their lifted shape for as long as possible.
Why Korean Lash Lifts Often Last Longer
Korean lash lifts are known for producing a natural lift from the root rather than an overly tight curl.
Because the lashes are lifted in a softer, more natural shape, the results often grow out more seamlessly as new lashes appear. This creates a gradual fade rather than a sudden loss of the lifted effect.
You can see examples of Korean lash lift results on our results page.
Do Korean Lash Lifts Grow Out Better?
In my experience, yes. Korean lash lifts usually create a softer lift from the root, which tends to lead to a smoother grow-out phase than overly curled traditional lifts.
The transition looks less harsh because new lashes blend more naturally with the lifted ones during the shedding cycle. With the right shield selection and controlled processing time, even the last weeks of a Korean lift can still look elegant rather than awkwardly grown out.
This is one reason many clients come to me after experiencing overcurled or uneven lash lifts elsewhere, especially when they have plans where a more natural grow-out matters. A softer Korean lift typically holds its shape gracefully even as it fades. Read more on the technical differences in Korean lash lift vs LVL.
Real Client Scenario
A client travelled in from Chelsea after a previous lash lift elsewhere had dropped after only 2 weeks. Her lashes had been underprocessed and the shield used was too large for her natural lash direction, so the lift never properly took.
After correcting the technique and adjusting the processing time to suit her individual lashes, her next lift lasted significantly longer and grew out far more evenly. She now rebooks at the natural 6 to 8 week mark.
Names and identifying details kept private. This is a typical pattern, not a one-off result.
When to Get Another Lash Lift
Most clients choose to repeat their lash lift every 6 to 8 weeks.
This allows the majority of the lashes to complete a growth cycle before lifting them again. Spacing treatments properly helps maintain healthy, strong lashes.

Why Do Some Lash Lifts Fade Quickly?
When a lash lift only lasts 2 to 3 weeks rather than the expected 6 to 8, the cause is almost always one of these factors. Most are technique-related, not lash-related.
Underprocessing
The lifting solution was not left on long enough to reshape the lash bonds, so the lift never properly took.
Incorrect shield selection
A shield too large or too small for the natural lash direction produces a weak or unnatural lift.
Overprocessed damaged lashes
Lashes weakened from previous overprocessing struggle to hold any new lift cleanly.
Hormonal fluctuations
Pregnancy, contraception or cycle stage can temporarily change lash texture and how lashes respond to lifting.
Oily skin and lifestyle
Heavy natural oils, frequent steam rooms, swimming or saunas can shorten longevity.
Poor aftercare
Rubbing eyes, oil-based cleansers and skipping a clean spoolie habit all cause the lift to drop earlier.
Incorrect solution timing
A rushed timer or generic timing across all lash types is one of the most common reasons lifts under-set.
If your previous lash lift dropped quickly or barely lifted at all, it does not always mean your lashes are unsuitable for lash lifts.
Technique, timing, shield selection and lash condition all play a major role in longevity. I regularly work on corrective Korean lash lifts for clients whose previous experience involved overprocessed, uneven or underprocessed lifts. Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a Korean lash lift last?
Most Korean lash lifts last between 6 and 8 weeks depending on the natural lash cycle.
Why did my lash lift fade quickly?
Hormones, skin type, aftercare and natural lash growth can all affect how long a lash lift lasts. If your lift barely took at all, your lashes may have been underprocessed.
Can hormones affect lash lifts?
Yes. Hormonal changes during pregnancy, menstrual cycles and other life stages can influence lash texture and how well lashes hold their lifted shape.
Had a Lash Lift That Didn't Go Right?
If your lashes are overprocessed, frizzy, too curly, or uneven after a previous lash lift elsewhere, our Lash Lift Correction + Korean Lash Lift treatment can help restore them.
